Provide safe and timely ground transport of patients, while also providing basic and critical care life support. This is a highly visible position which requires outstanding customer service. It is essential the paramedic is proficient in critical care skills and is comfortable interfacing with nurses and other medical staff in a variety of environments.
Scope of Care:
-Capability to deliver out of hospital care during the acute resuscitation phase before definitive care is provided (e.g. comparable to emergency department stabilizing care or an ICU transfer to more definitive care)
-Provides secondary or supportive care as part of Specialty Care Transports:
-Specialty Care High Risk OB Transports
-Ventricular Assist Device Transports (e.g. Balloon Pump, ECMO,
Impella and VADs)

Requires High School diploma or GED. Three (3) years of Paramedic experience in a high volume ALS EMS service or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Must hold current North Carolina EMT-Paramedic certification or National Equivalent with ability to obtain NC Paramedic within 30 days of hire. National Registry Paramedic -Preferred for in-state but required within 12 months of hire.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) provider certification
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) provider certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) provider certification
Trauma certification such as ITLS, PHTLS or TNCC one of the three required
Professional certification required within 18 months of hire-includes CCEMT-P (preferred), FPC, or CCP-C.
Requires valid NC Driver's License in good standing or able to obtain prior to start (NC, VA, SC and TN are all acceptable).
Per Department policy will need to lift over 50 pounds; carry 80 pounds a distance of 30 feet; push/ pull over 200 pounds (i.e. patients on bed, stretcher, wheelchair) for lateral transfer
