Job Description
New Graduate RN needed for the Gastrointestinal Surgery Acute Care Unit. This is a 36 hours/week, day/night and weekend rotation, with flexible self-scheduling. This position qualifies for an extensive benefit package including PTO hours accrued based on the number of hours hired to work.
Gastrointestinal Surgery Acute Care Unit, 6 West, is a 15-bed unit with patient populations including but are not limited to: Crohn’s Disease, ulcerative colitis, bariatric surgery, and other complex GI surgery patients. This team pursues excellence in patient care, education and research and the medical teams are nationally recognized for their innovative and advanced surgical procedures and treatments for gastrointestinal disease. This unit is also proud to represent UNC Hospitals as the Innovations Unit identifying opportunities to provide better, faster and more affordable care for more patients.
New Graduate Nurses are part of the UNC Medical Center Residency Program (NRP). This program is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationships which support development as a professional nurse.
Qualifications
Requires graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. If hired after January 6, 2014, without a BSN or MSN, must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina by the first day of orientation and current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider/BLS Provider certification also required.
