New Graduate RN needed for 8 Bedtower/Adult Family & General Medicine Inpatient Unit

This opportunity is for new graduate RN’s who have graduated within the past 12 months of the anticipated start date and have worked as an RN for less than 6 months. It is expected that applicants will be eligible to practice as an RN in North Carolina prior to their start date.
This position is 36 hours/week, day/night and weekend rotation with flexible self-scheduling to meet the unit and individual needs.
Our 31 bed inpatient unit provides innovative care for family and general medicine patients. We take pride in our highly interactive and dynamic interdisciplinary team that includes: nurses, nursing assistants, health unit coordinators, physician teams, case managers, a social worker, pastoral care, physical and occupational therapy as well as pharmacist. Our innovative unit encourages nurses to develop critical thinking, leadership skills, problem solving and community activism. We encourage opportunities to climb the UNCH clinical ladder and board certification for our nursing staff.
Unit Strengths: 8 Bedtower utilizes a highly collaborative, mulit-disciplinary approach to the patient and family centered care environment. We also work closely with the Family Medicine clinic enabling continuity of care as patients transition between outpatient and inpatient care. We provide a supportive work atmosphere with nurses committed to excellent health care and collegial interactions. In addition, we also enjoy a top tier employee satisfaction rating!
New Graduate Nurses are part of the UNC Medical Center Residency Program (NRP). This program is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationships which support development as a professional nurse.

Requires graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
Must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, if hired after January 6, 2014 and obtain a baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing or a Master’s degree with a major in nursing within seven years of employment date.
Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina by the Board of Nursing prior to start date. Current healthcare provider BLS/CPR certification required.
