New Graduate RN needed for Acute & Intermediate Coronary Care Unit/ 3 Anderson
Start Date: Summer 2020
This opportunity is for new graduate RN's who are in their final semester of nursing school or who have graduated within the past 12 months of the anticipated start date and have worked as an RN for less than 6 months. It is expected that the applicants will have their North Carolina RN license prior to the first day of employment.
This is a 36 hours/week, 12 hour shifts with day/night and some weekend rotation. This position qualifies for full time state benefits.
3 Anderson is a 25 bed unit that is comprised of 6 step-down beds and 19 acute care beds. Patients on this unit includes myocardial infarction, heart failure, and arrhythmia. Also included in our care are pre and post cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures such as pacemaker placement, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator placement and ablation. All nurses on the unit rotate through the ICCU and are experienced with multiple vasoactive infusions and invasive devices, including arterial lines and chest tubes.
The RN provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
New Graduate Nurses are part of the UNC Medical Center Residency Program (NRP). This program is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationships which support development as a professional nurse.
Requires graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. Bachelor’s degree in nursing, preferred. Must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, if hired after January 6, 2014 and obtain a baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing or a Master’s degree with a major in nursing within seven years of employment date. Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina by the Board of Nursing by the first day of clinical care. Current healthcare provider BLS/CPR certification required.
