Description

RN needed forCardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit.


The CTICU is part of the UNC Center for Heart and Vascular Care whose mission is to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the care of patients with cardiothoracic and vascular disease. We are currently a 9 bed intensive care unit specializing in the treatment of post-surgical cardiothoracic and vascular patients and will be expanding to 16 beds this summer.Our primary surgical procedures include coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve repair/replacements, heart transplants, lung transplants, LVAD, ECMO, aortic/thoracic aneurysm repairs, and complicated esophageal, thoracic and vascular surgeries. CTICU nurses are educated to successfully manage and care for patients with advanced hemodynamic monitoring and supportive devices such as pulmonary artery catheters, temporary and permanent pacemakers, intra-aortic balloon pumps and continuous renal replacement therapy. The CTICU is a dynamic work environment which relies on a highly motivated staff that displays exceptional team work.

Experience in cardiothoracic specialty is preferred but not required. Our orientation program is tailored to your existing skills and experience with supplemental and specialty courses to expand your knowledge.


This is a 36 hour/week position, day/night rotation with some weekends, flexible self scheduling. This position offers a generous benefit package.





Qualifications

Requires graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing and one year of nursing experience. Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing. Current certification in Healthcare Provider BLS/ CPR required.


Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, preferred. If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, and obtain a Baccalaureate degree with a major in Nursing or a Master’s degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
